how it started
Horace Smallwood was the founder of Best Ceramic Tile Company Inc., formerly known as Best Tile. In 1966, Horace hired two of the best-known tile setters around to begin his new business. Horace was involved with numerous projects throughout the Gainesville area including banks, schools, homes, and hospitals and everything in-between.
In the summer of 1980, Scott Head began working for Horace to learn the trade. In 1989, Horace turned the business over to Scott, now his son-in-law. Scott's enthusiastic, positive personality and expert craftsmanship continued to guide BCT for many years to follow. Under Scotts ownership, Best Tile continued growing it's footprint in commercial and residential projects providing a "one of a kind" service to clients.

Jason Kuchler joined the BCT team in February 2022. Jason's previous experience as a Senior Project Manager brings a unique perspective to problem solving and the ability to guide clients through each step of the construction process, from design to completion. Aiming to provide a turn key approach to your project.

Over the years and under many generations of leadership and combined experience, BCT has completed many jobs including Lakeshore Mall, Northeast GA Medical Center, and many of the banks and schools in Hall County and Gainesville City throughout the years. Many residents in Hall County/Gainesville have bathrooms and kitchens that were installed by Best Ceramic Tile Company.

Scott Head
Scott specializes in everything tile! Scott is a very talented craftsman that takes pride in his work. He has completed thousands of projects in his 43 years of experience. Scott was the FIRST recipient of the Master Craftsmen Builders of America award for “Finish Tradesman” (TILE) in 2012. He was nominated by Representative Doug Collins.
Jason Kuchler
Jason Kuchler has ten years of commercial construction experience as a Senior Project Manager. He has overseen the successful completion of many new builds and renovations for projects such as schools, performing art centers, parking decks, and office buildings. His years of experience as a Senior Project Manager brings a unique perspective to be able to problem solve and guide you through each step of the construction process from design to completion.
